KnightVision for Android (beta)

Bring the power of Stockfish 19 NNUE directly to your mobile device. The KnightVision Android app reads the Chess.com or Lichess app board directly from your screen and draws intuitive green and yellow move tiles over the board.

Requirements

• An Android device running Android 8.0 or newer.
• A valid KnightVision Pro license key.
• The official Chess.com or Lichess app installed on your device.

Installation Guide

1. Download and Install: Download the APK file using the button above. When prompted, allow your browser to "Install unknown apps".
2. Grant Permissions: Open KnightVision. You will be asked to grant "Display over other apps" (overlay) permission. This is required to draw the move tiles over your chess app.
3. Screen Capture: When you start the engine, allow the "Screen recording" permission. This is necessary for the app to see the chessboard.
4. Calibration: Open your chess app (Chess.com or Lichess) and start a game or go to a practice board from the initial starting position. KnightVision needs to see the initial position first so it can learn the pieces and board dimensions on your specific screen.
5. Play: Once calibrated, the engine will start evaluating moves and drawing the green (best move) and yellow (second best move) tiles.

Troubleshooting

• Tiles are not showing: Ensure you have entered your valid Pro license key in the settings. Also, make sure you calibrated the board from the initial starting position.
• Wrong evaluations: The app might have misread the board. Try restarting the app and calibrating again from the starting position. Ensure there are no UI elements (like chat or popups) covering the chessboard.
• App closes in the background: Check your device's battery optimization settings and allow KnightVision to run in the background without restrictions.

Privacy Note

The screen capture happens entirely on your phone. The app processes the image locally to read the chessboard position. We do not save or transmit screenshots. Only the resulting board position (FEN) and your license key are sent to our servers to calculate the Stockfish engine moves, just like the browser extension.
